“It is a dangerous proposition, but responsibility to humanity is above responsibility to self. It is only when you begin to act out of responsibility to humanity that forces are released that transform, in a favourable way, your life” Harry Palmer, Author

Fine Green Paddock has been established as an Australian Charitable Fund to assist regional Australians whose lives have been devastated by natural disaster.

Background

Many fine charities and foundations exist worldwide to assist those affected by environmental trauma. Fine Green Paddock was established because we identified a need for a charity that focuses on our own back yard.

A clear and present danger

Australia has taken a battering over the last few years. The Bureau of Meteorology and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have found that in the past ten years the country has experienced the following:

  • The most severe drought on record – now in its 13th year
  • The highest recorded 24 hour rainfall – 2005
  • The worst bushfires in terms of loss of life and environment – 2009
  • The highest temperature on record – 2009
  • The worst flooding in terms of loss of life, property, infrastructure – 2011

These statistics have wide ranging consequences for Australia’s environment and the people who live immediately within it, both in the short and long terms.

Help when it is needed most

Fine Green Paddock will assist those affected when natural disaster strikes and establish grants to assist those in regional areas who may be affected in the future.

Our progress

So that we can assist in times of crisis as swiftly and effectively as possible, the Fine Green Paddock Fund has recently received official DGR endorsement by the ATO (Deductible Gift Recipient status as a Public Fund for persons in Necessitous Circumstances). Fine Green Paddock Pty Ltd has been incoporated as a Not-For-Profit Company with a Board of Trustees who will distribute funds raised by or donated to The Fine Green Paddock Fund, to regional Australians in necessitous circumstances affected by natural disaster.  A patron is also currently being sought.

One Great Night on Earth

A fund raising event is currently in development to raise money for Fine Green Paddock’s charitable causes. The event is a music and lifestyle festival called One Great Night on Earth, which will take place in Victoria in late 2012 .
